THIS USEFUL
AND ATTRACTIVE UNIT IS A REAL PRECISION TOOL AND INVALUABLE FOR
ENGINEERS, MODEL MAKERS AND THE HANDYMAN.
WHEN PRECISE
CENTER PUNCHING IS REQUIRED ON AN ACCURATELY SCRIBED WORK, AN
OnMark OPTICAL CENTER PUNCH WITH ITS POWERFUL MAGNIFIER HANDLES
THE SITUATION WITH EASE.
THE TOOL CONSISTS OF THREE PARTS:
|
|
- The MAIN
BODY is anodized aluminum and has two accurately bored holes,
one to contain the lens, the other to house the punch. The base
of the main body is covered with cork to prevent movement in
operation.
- The OPTICAL
COMPONENT, made from acrylic resin, incorporates a lens at one
end for magnification, the other end having a small circle and
center dot for easy location. The component itself acts as a
light guide, and gives ample illumination of the work surface.
- The CENTER
PUNCH, made from hardened tool steel presicion ground to close
tolerance and concentricity.

THE ADVANTAGES
OF THE ON MARK CENTER PUNCH
The optical
component giving excellent illumination and magnification makes
for ease in locating base over scribed Iines.
The Center
punch being ground at an included angle of 1200 allows accurate
starting of drills up to 3/16" (5mm.) diameter.
THE TOOL IS USED IN THE FOLLOWING MANNER:
|
|
- Holding
base with both hands locate center of optical component over
scribed lines on work piece.
- Holding
the base firmly, remove the optical component and insert the
Center punch.
(The optical
component and center punch should be kept in the lid when not
in use.)
- Using a
medium-size hammer, tap punch, first gently then firmly depending
on material hardness and hole size to be drilled. Remember the
base must be held firmly at all times.
- Still holding
the base firm, remove the center punch and insert the optical
component to inspect the punched work piece. Should the punch
mark be too faint, relocate and punch again.
